First prize for the Schubert poultry farm

Informative, creative and an experience – the best events of the Bavarian Organic Experience Days last fall were honored by Agriculture Minister Michaela Kaniber (CSU) at the Biofach trade fair in Nuremberg. The first prize in the agriculture category went to Geflugelhof Schubert from Unterrusselbach for its organic potato festival.

Six farms from the Bioland, Naturland, Biokreis and Demeter farming associations impressed with the idea and execution of their events. “With a lot of passion, heart and soul, and incredibly great ideas, you have managed to get consumers excited about local organic agriculture and its many different products”, said the minister. The best events had been selected by a jury of experts in the categories agriculture, processing and special events. All prize winners received value vouchers for organic products. At the organic potato festival, Geflugelhof Schubert showed visitors the entire farm, from organic laying hen husbandry to the pasta kitchen to the farm store, and informed guests about the rooster-rooster project and dual-purpose chickens. An extensive children’s program with hands-on activities revolved around chickens and potatoes. For all visitors there was music, organic food and a small market with information and sales booths.
